Dear Friends,
It has been an exciting year here at the Collaborative Center for Justice! Since our last appeal, your support helped fuel our contributions to two statewide legislative victories that will improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of Connecticut residents!
With municipal election season here, many of us are searching for ways to extend the reach of our civic engagement beyond the ballot box. This November, your gift to the Collaborative Center can be twice as impactful thanks to the generosity of several anonymous donors: The first $1,200 of donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar through November 30. Please make your gift now and help us hit this mark! Click here to donate online, or make checks payable to the Collaborative Center for Justice, 40 Clifford St, Hartford, CT 06114.
We worked with partners across the state for the passage of a landmark criminal justice reform bill, Clean Slate, and a vital housing and environmental justice bill, SB 356.
- Clean Slate will help approximately 294,000 people who committed low-level offenses reintegrate into society after they have repaid their debt to society and remained crime-free for a period of time. By expunging these records, the bill will provide a clean slate for people to rejoin the workforce, enjoy educational opportunities, and find dignified housing in their communities.
- SB 356 is a grant program that will fund much-needed improvements to Connecticut’s low-income housing stock, focusing on increased energy efficiency and reducing health risks such as asbestos, gas leaks, and mold. The bill will reduce energy consumption and costs, improve living conditions for residents, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and spur local job creation.
We helped to draft language for legislation, lobbied lawmakers, and rallied to raise awareness. Most importantly, we offered free trainings to empower hundreds of citizens to take the political process into their own hands by contacting public officials, testifying before legislative committees, and leading teach-ins within their houses of worship. We can do work like this thanks to the generosity of donors like you.
Thank you for your support!

Director
