There is still time to speak up against the proposed fracked-gas power plant in Killingly!
Your input is needed by October 9th
On October 1st, a public hearing will be held on the permit application to allow NTE Connecticut to dump waste water associated with the power plant into public waters in Connecticut. The CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has already tentatively approved this permit. This public hearing is the chance for people to weigh-in before a final decision is made. It’s imperative that we voice our concerns about this permit, and the project as a whole.
For more on our perspective, you can read a recently published op-ed by CCFJ’s Rachel Lea Scott: “Moving forward on Killingly power plant is illogical and immoral”.
The hearing will be held at 3:00 pm on October 1, 2020 through Zoom. This public comment hearing will consist of informational presentations by the parties and the receipt of public comment on the record.

Written public comments will be accepted until the close of business on October 9, 2020. Written comments may be submitted by mail to the address below or by e-mail to the hearing officer at brendan.schain@ct.gov.

CCFJ plans to submit written testimony in opposition of the permit and the project as a whole. If you would like any further information on this issue, or have questions as you are writing testimony, please feel free to reach out to us (rachel.scott@ccfj.org or dwayne@ccfj.org).
Thank you for your advocacy!
