The Collaborative Center for Justice and other members of the Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance (GHIAA) is participating in a weeks-long advocacy campaign around critical issues impacting the lives of our neighbors here in Connecticut. Last week, we asked you to write Governor Lamont to establish a relief fund for undocumented immigrants and their families, and to safely drawdown the state’s prison population to prevent further spread of the virus.
This week we ask that you urge the governor to provide additional relief to renters and homeowners. The state cannot afford an expanded homelessness crisis as the pandemic continues. We are calling for the establishment of a rental market stabilization fund, and the cancellation of rent. Click the links for background information and potential talking points. As with last week’s actions, let us know if we can count on your advocacy by emailing advocacy@ccfj.org.
Finally, this Saturday, May 30, GHIAA member organizations are participating in a national day of action for the cancellation of rent.
