In our world today, 65 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, and 34,000 additional people are displaced every single day. The need to welcome refugees to the United States has never been greater. Now is the time to take a stand.
A number of refugee resettlement and protection organizations are launching a Stand With Refugees call-in campaign leading up to World Refugee Day on June 20th. During this week, people can call via 1-844-4STAND5 to be connected with your Members of Congress and urge them to welcome refugees. Please visit www.StandWithRefugees.US and call our lawmakers to send a powerful message: We welcome refugees.
For the week leading up to World Refugee Day 2017, June 12-16th we ask that you send the following message to the members of leadership of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives:
In honor of this year’s World Refugee Day, which takes place on June 20th, I am calling in support of welcoming refugees to the United States. I urge you, as members of the leadership team in your legislative chamber, to welcome more refugees to the U.S. next year and provide adequate funding levels to assist refugees worldwide.
