The US Catholic Bishops. as part of National Migration Week, are launching a postcard campaign calling for just and compassionate immigration reform. You may send an electronic postcard to your members of Congress here.
This year’s Migration Week, Jan. 6-12, commemorates the 10th anniversary of “Strangers No Longer: Together on the Journey of Hope,” released in 2003 as a joint pastoral statement of the bishops of the United States and Mexico.
You may find here resources for National Migration Week from the U.S. Bishops Conference. Also, the North Carolina Council of Churches is sponsoring a free webinar Jan. 9 on talking about immigration with your congregation.
As the new year dawns, we can celebrate a new ruling that will reduce the amount of time that some close family members of U.S. citizens will have to remain out of the country while seeking to obtain residency. Let’s hope that this marks the beginning of a year of more major immigration developments.
