Time to Oppose the Graham-Cassidy Healthcare Bill

The Senate is expected to vote sometime next week(Sept 25) on a new effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with legislation that would leave millions of Americans without healthcare coverage.

Please email your senators and urge them to vote “no” on this proposal and to work instead in a bipartisan manner to stabilize the insurance market, strengthen and expand health coverage, and improve affordability.

The Graham-Cassidy proposal, named for sponsors Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA), would result in states collectively receiving an estimated $299 billion less in federal healthcare funding by 2027 relative to current law. States would be able to limit what services insurance companies must cover; current law requires insurance companies to cover 10 “essential benefits” such as maternity care, mental health services and addiction treatment.
