Today is International Human Rights Day. Celebrated on December 10 each year, this is a day to recommit ourselves to actions that uphold and protect human rights for all people. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on this day in 1948.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights outlines the basic human rights that each person inherently has, simply because they are human. We still have a long way to go to protect human rights for all people around the world and here in the U.S.
On this day, let us recommit ourselves to working for justice, peace, and the full realization of human rights for all people.
