Advocacy

We are concerned with a wide range of social, economic, racial, and environmental justice issues, both at the state and national levels. We advocate for policies and legislation that uphold human rights for all and improve the lives of low-income and marginalized individuals and families.

Knowing that we cannot be effective advocates on all issues, CCFJ has 4 main focus areas for advocacy efforts: Human Rights & Dignity; Economic Inequality; Immigrants and Refugees; Environmental Justice.

We will continue to be attuned to other justice concerns, and respond when needed to critical issues that may arise outside of these focus areas.

We produce timely, concise action alerts for our Voices for Justice Network to use in their advocacy and lobbying efforts.  Action Alerts include detailed, relevant background information on a particular issue or bill and suggestions for taking action.  Interested in receiving these action alerts? Education

We strive to educate our network and the public about the history, context, and current landscape of a range of social justice issues. We seek to explore the root causes of why things are the way they are in situations of injustice. We also seek to provide context to inform a faith-based response to issues of concern.

Mobilizing & Collaborating With Others

We collaborate with other advocates to speak up against injustice, and to speak in favor of policies that will positively impact the lives of low-income and marginalized people in our state and country. 

Prayer

Each legislative session, we coordinate a Prayer Partners program to connect Religious Sisters and others who wish to pray for an elected official throughout the year. Please contact us if you are interested in participating!

Moving the Moral Compass Toward Peace and Justice

We endeavor to work toward a world in which people have what they need to live and thrive, are treated with dignity and respect, have their human rights upheld, and are able to participate in the decisions that affect their lives. Our efforts are aimed at moving the moral compass of our society toward peace and justice.

Past Advocacy Campaigns

Over the past 19 years, the Collaborative Center for Justice has worked on various issues, including the campaign to repeal the death penalty in CT, the Earned Income Tax Credit in CT, efforts to increase the minimum wage, and protections for immigrants (among many other issues!)

We couldn’t do this work alone.  We rely on our sponsoring communities, Network members, other organizations who we collaborate with, and you!  We are thankful that so many of you raise your voices together to challenge injustice in its many forms.
